The Trueways Survival 2-Day Survival training course (open to 16+) will give you an introduction and a good grounding in all the principles and skills necessary to survive in the wilderness.
This course is designed for beginners who wish to learn from scratch and those with some experience of the outdoors desiring to check their knowledge. You will spend the evening sleeping in your shelter under the stars. This course is designed to get practical hands-on experience in a fun and safe environment.
COURSE SYLLABUS
This course runs over two full days and one night and will cover the following subjects:
1) Protection
– Shelter building using a tarp – Your home for the evening.
– Insulation and weather protection using natural materials.
– Priorities of Survival: medical, clothing, shelter and fire
– They are taking advantage of and improving pre-existing natural shelters (Caves, Hollow, Overhangs, Fallen Trees, etc.).
2) Fire
Mastering the art and the science of fire management is a challenging task. Time spent developing confidence and competence in this skill set is a wise investment and will make a difference in your survivability—fire Lighting and maintenance with Ferro rod and striker. Use of fire for heating and cooking. Signalling for rescue
3) Water
– The ability to gather, process and store water is typically one of the most overlooked areas in survival training and yet one of the most vital skills.
– We are sourcing water and making it safe to use.
– Water treatment and storage.
4) Food
Sourcing, processing and storing food in a wilderness environment brings with it a complex set of challenges. They are acquiring food from the wild.
– We understand our survival nutritional needs.
– Toxins and pathogens in wild food and avoiding them.
– Flora (Food from Plants, Roots, Tubers, Seeds and Fruit).

5) Survival Camp Craft and Routines.
Maintaining your equipment is essential for anybody in the wild; learn the best practices you will remember for life. Safe use and best practice for Knives, Axes, Saws, Fire Kits, etc.
6) Navigation
– They are telling the time and direction from natural indicators.
– Safe techniques for crossing the unknown countryside.
– Best routes to safety.
– Day and Night signals.
– Passive and active signalling.
This busy course is ideal for any survival skills novice and is run throughout the year at all our nearby Kathmandu Valley locations. If you have a party of 3 or more but need help finding a date that suits your group, please e-mail us; we are happy to add more dates as required.
Equipment Once your booking is confirmed, a complete equipment list and specific directions will be provided. However, as a minimum, you will need to bring with you some basic kit such as:
– Waterproof Jacket and trousers.
– Suitable Foot ware.
– Knife.
– Torch.
– Billy Can or Cooking Pot.
– Drinking Cup/Mug and a Water Bottle.
– Sleeping Bag.
– Bivi Bag.
– Basha or Tarp.
– Torch.
